The Metropolitan Kalamazoo Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is a civil rights organization that is committed to ensuring the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.
The NAACP is now 112 years old, the oldest civil rights organization in the history of the United States. In that time, the NAACP has impacted many things and the organization has changed the course of American history. Since the Springfield Race Riot of 1908, the NAACP has led the way in thought and action for civil rights. We are truly the nation’s conscience to civil and human rights, and the world’s example of advocacy. As we look at the disparity of Minorities regarding confirmed COVID 19 cases and deaths, it is relevant we continue in our fight for justice and freedom for all. Let’s keep this tradition alive and a part of the American culture.
The Metropolitan Kalamazoo Branch of the NAACP is pleased to announce that our 42nd Annual Freedom Fund Event “Always Fighting Forward” will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2021, virtually via Zoom and Facebook at 6:00 p.m. We are pleased to announce this will be a Free Event, however, we will be accepting donations.
We realize with our community and world continuing to battle against COVID 19, we want to be sensitive to our community needs and still provide inspirational guidance as we continue to fight for our freedom and provide scholarships to our high school seniors.
Our Virtual Freedom Fund Event helps to raise funds to assist with our mission of equality for all. We have built many alliances with community organizations to provide services and programs to our community.
As the Metropolitan Kalamazoo Branch of the NAACP continues to serve in this community, it is our hope that you will continue to support our efforts by purchasing a sponsorship or an ad in our Virtual Ad Souvenir book that will be viewed during our Freedom Fund Event and on our Website from October 2021 – October 2022. This will allow your business or organization advertisement and support of our efforts throughout the year.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Freedom Fund Chairperson, Lola Clark Atkinson @ 269-547-0326.
