2020 has been a year of tremendous insight. Racial and socio-economic disparities have been magnified by an out-of-control pandemic. Despite the pandemic, the Metropolitan Kalamazoo Branch of the NAACP continues to work with local organizations as we fight for equality and justice for all residents in the greater Kalamazoo area. We continue to work to protect

  • workers’ rights that ultimately help businesses retain staff and ensure productivity

  • families seeking affordable, quality housing opportunities

  • our children’s education which guarantees their world-readiness and

  • our youth as they pursue humanities, math, science and the arts through our Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) competition.

Apart from the pandemic, we continue to stay vigilant in our quest for justice and are similarly intentional to celebrate the greatness that exists in our community. Freedom Fund Re-Imagined is our month-long virtual voter empowerment event. This event includes a series of voter empowerment videos that aim to inspire us to vote and encourage others. These videos will premiere each Wednesday during the month of October through Election Day. Culminating this series is our Virtual Freedom Fund Event that will be live streamed Sunday November 1, 2020 | 5pm on Facebook (KzooNAACP) and YouTube (MetroKzooNAACP). Freedom Fund Re-Imagined not only gives us the opportunity to build a relevant platform in today’s digital landscape but serves as our primary fundraiser.

We hope that our inability to gather in person, will not supersede your willingness to contribute to our organization. We will accept contributions through the purchase of ads for our online Freedom Fund Souvenir Booklet. Additionally, all organizations that elect to contribute at a sponsorship level will be recognized during our virtual event, have their logo displayed on the branch's website, and be recognized throughout the year at various programs hosted by the Metropolitan Kalamazoo Branch. (Ads & Sponsorship Deadline: Monday, October 19, 2020).

The NAACP could not do this work without the provisions of community partners like you. Your gift helps us sustain the work we do alongside other social justice organizations in Kalamazoo as we work to help balance the scales of justice for all people.

Our theme, “Our Vote: Our Voice" amply expresses our goal for the remainder of the year as we continue to be a vital artery in the heart of this community! Your contribution guarantees our ability to continue to be that resounding voice of equality and justice for the people in Kalamazoo and surrounding areas!

Thank you for your support.
