BLACK ARTISTS EXHIBIT

FEBRUARY 4, 2022

THIRD ANNUAL CENTER FOR NEW MEDIA EVENT

SUBMISSIONS DUE JANUARY 28, 2022

In collaboration with the Black Arts & Cultural Center and the Metropolitan Kalamazoo branch of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People), Kalamazoo Valley’s Center for New Media will host its second annual Black Arts Exhibit in February. The event, held in observance of Black History Month, will highlight the works of local Black artists, and provide a shared connection to the rich Black cultural heritage in the Kalamazoo area. All forms of creative art and mediums will be accepted.

Physical work(s) and a digital image copy(s) of work for the February art exhibit should be delivered to Cindy Parks at The Center for New Media on the Arcadia Commons Campus. Please schedule a date and time for delivery by contacting Cindy at cparks@kvcc.edu or by phone at 269-373-7881. Works must be received by 4 p.m. on Jan. 28.

With news of the February Art Hop cancellation, we would like to let interested artists know that we are still accepting applications for the Black Artists Exhibit. We won't have the formal exhibit opening like we usually do, but we will keep any artwork on display for the whole month of February so that patrons may come visit during our usual work hours. Please remember to submit both physical and digital copies of your work, and turn in the Call for Entries and Loan Agreement documents too. If you have any questions, please contact Jordan Wilson (jwilson9200@kvcc.edu) or Cindy Parks (cparks@kvcc.edu).
